Great. I just so happen to have come across another great article, which you can read here: retrowaretv.com/games-as-empirical-evidence It kind of goes hand in hand with the other article I posted previously, discussing the benefits of videogames. I played Spent last night, and now I understand what a friend of mine was going through a few years back. Yikes! Seriously though. There are good points to videogames, and I think the media fails to acknowledge them.

This thread is probably too broad with its topic, no? I just think there are so many different things in the video game industry that we can talk about. Developer attitudes can range from third party developers not supporting Nintendo to running wild with downloadable content and micro-transactions. That is just my opinion though. If I would like to discuss an article then I might post it in its own thread. I guess we will see how this goes.
Nice article. I don’t necessarily believe that video games should be real-life simulators though. What would make them fun? In an effort to shake off that “video games are toys for children” stigma video games can become realistic to the point where they might no longer be enjoyable. If a developer can make a fun, educational, and entertaining video game, then they should be commemorated because that can be more difficult than it seems. I’m sure there are developers out there who are hesitant to put thought-provoking topics into their video games because their audiences might not be into this. In other words, the dollar signs might get in the way (unless things are weaved together). Sex and violence sell more than anything that might require serious thought.
