So yeah, Dissidia NT is more or less what I've heard. It's all right, it's just not a $60 game. I'd say $20 is more justified, but then again that money could also be spent on Dissidia: Duodecim. The story mode is a real grind; yes, you have to battle AI to unlock the points necessary to progress through the story, which consists mainly of cutscenes with occasional fights thrown in the mix. But unlocking each node takes quite a bit of time for what it's worth. I suppose it's meant to encourage experimentation with all 20+ characters, but still. The entire story should be available from the get-go.

I've been marathoning the Kingdom Hearts series before Kingdom Hearts III releases in January. This time around, I'm playing the series in chronological order. So I started by watching Kingdom Hearts X: Back Cover on the II.8 collection, then I played a small bit of Kingdom Hearts: Unchained X, but I stopped a small ways into it; the story is spread so thin across 750+ missions, plus it's not even finished (I heard somewhere that the story will wrap up in August 2019). I subsequently cleared Birth By Sleep, and am currently near the end of the original game. It's definitely not an order I would recommend to a first-time player, but it has proven to be an interesting experience so far, to say the least.

When I finally get around to marathoning that series in both collections, I'll do it in the standard order as it's been so long that I only remember bits and pieces of that series now. I also happen to own 358/2 Days, so I can get the full experience of that, and I'm debating getting the actual Re:Coded. I may compare the original Birth By Sleep to the remake by playing just a bit of the former. I also just kind of find it neat to see games like that running on the PSP. I never did buy Dream Drop Distance, and now I have zero plans to. On a related note, I hear that much like how one of the PS4 collections is a set that includes two of the PS3 ones, there's a new one coming to PS4 that just combines all of them in one. It doesn't sound like it adds anything new, but it's the one to get for newcomers. I have currently interrupted my marathon of the Assassin's Creed series (I'm about halfway through ACIII) to finally play Hatoful Boyfriend...and it's definitely out there. It certainly takes the cake as far as Japanese IPs that officially get released elsewhere. I've kind of been spending more time with my handhelds lately as I have a couple hours to kill in my day on Mondays. I don't currently have a Switch, but I have a good backlog of 3DS, PSP and Vita titles. I also loaded up a PSP memory stick with a bunch of retro compilations, but I've switched over to my Vita for the time being. Once I finish Hatoful Boyfriend and its sequel, I'll finally get around to playing VA-11 HALL-A (colloquially known as Valhalla). I just ordered a replacement AC adaptor for my Vita as mine is fraying. At least that's not too overly expensive to replace.

I just ordered a replacement AC adaptor for my Vita as mine is fraying. At least that's not too overly expensive to replace. I would argue that the HD version of Birth By Sleep is far superior to the original. For some reason, there's a huuuge difference in being able to tilt the camera on its y-axis as opposed to the PSP version, whose camera can only be moved along the x-axis; it makes it feel more like KH1 or KH2 in that regard. Plus it adds content that the PSP version didn't have. While 358/2 Days is probably my least favorite in the series, I also plan to play the game itself as opposed to rewatching the 3-hour movie in the I.5 collection. Re:Coded is the only game in the series that I haven't played, but I don't think I ever will; I've seen the movie that came bundled with the II.5 collection, and it contributes nothing to the plot. You only play as a data replica of Sora, whose memory is a clean slate, so all of the series' exposition has to be relayed to him throughout the entire story. Even just watching the movie was a bore. Any particular reason why you're not interested in Dream, Drop, Distance? I can say with full confidence that the game is necessary in understanding the plot of Kingdom Hearts III (though I'm sure the latter will fill you in on plot details at some point). I know someone who played Hatoful Boyfriend (she even seemed to think it was the best game that she played that year). Haha at first I thought she kept misspelling the word "hateful," so I'm glad that the title doesn't really imply that relationship abuse is the literal name of the game.

If you don't think Re:Coded is worth my time then I guess I won't get it as that's money I don't need to spend. Hatoful Boyfriend is that special kind of WTF that Japanese creators can somehow pull off without needing to look to drugs for inspiration. Oh, there's what I'll describe as most likely a MLP reference in there, though I'm assuming that's a stylistic translation in the localized script. It's also the PG-rated kind of WTF, so if you're interested I'd highly recommend it. I think it's available on PS4 and even iOS. It is an otome game, but I doubt it does anything even for straight females because all the routes are birds. Oh, and it gets more messed up than that, trust me. Especially if you play through the epilogue story. Even a couple of endings to character routes are a special kind of WTF. The doctor in particular comes to mind...never trust a partridge.

If you have no intention of playing Re:Coded, the only tidbit of information that contributes anything to the plot is that Maleficent comes up with a theory suggesting that Jiminy's journal may be able to predict the future. So that's a loose tie-in to Kingdom Hearts III, but a very loose one indeed. I'm plowing through Chain of Memories right now. I always forget how much I wind up enjoying the battle system once I've played it for an hour or two.

I don't think I played through Re: Chain of Memories, so that will be new for me. My friend had the two manga volumes that cover that arc though, so I read both of those in one sitting. Still, I look forward to playing through the actual game.

Riku IV and Larxene II never fail to put me in a rage. . But thankfully I've cleared Chain of Memories and have started Reverse/Rebirth. I'm hoping I can blow through that quickly enough to start 358/2 Days relatively soon.

Riku IV was infamous for being extremely difficult on the GBA version, but through some sort of luck I was able to beat him on my first try the first time I played the PS2 version (I may have been overleveled the first time as well). My only advice is to keep your emotions guarded; I physically hurt myself in the process of overcoming that obstacle and the bump I had to prove it only just healed. I am 117 days into 358/2 Days right now, which I'm hoping is about halfway through (maybe a third, since it's hard to tell due to the fact that the story skips 20 or so days ahead once in a while). My initial hope was to start KH2 at the start of December, but hopefully I won't be too far off at my current rate.

I've decided I'm giving VA11 Hall-A the lion's share of my attention for now. I was actually able to get my hands on my PlayStation Classic yesterday, so I played a bit of Tekken 3 (for the nostalgia), Rainbow Six (to see if it's really that bad), and a bit of Rayman, because it looks like a fun 2D platformer. I'll probably backlog the lot of it, but I'm looking forward to playing it more. I just saw a vid too that showed that plugging a USB keyboard into the system allows the user to access a plethora of emulator settings. I'm not very tech savvy, but I might keep that in mind.

I just finished Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. That game is so much longer than I remember. It me 26 hours to finish, which probably makes it the longest in the series (albeit by a slim margin). But the good news is that just leaves me with 2 full games and a micro one to go before Kingdom Hearts III releases!

I'm going to keep going with VA11 Hall-A and once I'm done with that I feel compelled to play through The Wolf Among Us again and maybe give the Fables comics another shot. I'm going to Disneyland this Christmas, so I guess I'm in kind of a fairytale mood. Speaking of which, I usually get myself at least one gift every Christmas, excluding pre-orders like the PlayStation Classic and the Persona Endless Night Collection that I paid off over a few months. This year my gift to myself was this: www.amazon.com/Grimms-Complete-Fairy-Tales-Wilhelm/dp/1607103133/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1544983565&sr=8-3&keywords=grimm+fairy+talesIn any case, I'm working on VA11 Hall-A. I was working on a game called Of Mice and Sand where I managed a crew of mice as they drive a ship on a journey across a desert planet in a quest for El Dorado, but that got repetitive after a while and I don't think I should be trusted with a mouse crew. Anyways, VA11 Hall-A is starting to get too real...for a cyberpunk bartender simulator. I just barely managed to scrape together the funds to allow my character to pay her power bill, and rent is due in a few days and she's still short quite a bit. I have to decide whether to get her what she wants to buy to help her stay focused at work, or saving the money because she could very well be out on the street in a few days if I can't scrape together another $3700. As it's the future, with inflation, her power bill was $8000, and her rent is $10,000. This is a future where posters cost $300, so...yeah. In any case, one time I decided not to buy the item she wanted, she had to go home early as what I think is an imaginary friend showed up, and I made almost $800 less than the roughly $2500 I should have. Suffice to say I've been giving people the most expensive drinks I can when they order something, and make them a big one where possible, for that 30% commission.

I'm about halfway through Kingdom Hearts II (right before the 1000 Heartless battle), which isn't quite as far along as I'd like to be, but I still think I can manage to clear the whole series by KH3 if I work in 2 hours a day before then. I heard somewhere that the ending to KH3 was leaked online, so at this point that means I'll be avoiding YouTube until after I clear the game. Not that I'd actually watch the leak, but that an image might appear in a thumbnail (this was how Coco was spoiled for me).

Well, it's about as real as a "cyberpunk bartender simulator" with sentient robots, talking dogs and genetically modified cat people can get. I suppose even fantasy often contains threads of realism, so I guess cyberpunk can too. This is one strange game...for a Western developed title anyways. I suppose it's nothing to the strangeness of Hatoful Boyfriend mind you, so...whatever I guess. In any case I've moved on to replaying The Wolf Among Us as I just took a trip to Disneyland over Christmas and brought my Vita, thinking this game would tie in nicely to it. That and I also bought this excellent classic-style leather bound book of Grimm Fairytales: www.amazon.com/Grimms-Complete-Fairy-Tales-Wilhelm/dp/1607103133/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1546060137&sr=1-1&keywords=grimm+fairy+talesI might give the Fables comics another try after this. I'll play the last DLC for Spider-Man next. I'm not sure if I'll use the Raimi suit, but for a free addition it's not bad. It's essentially the classic suit as it's virtually identical to that, but the black lines stand out more and it just looks nicer. I prefer the shinier suits myself, but it's a great option to have.
