I was able to check out Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix at E3 2014. It looked fantastic. I haven’t played this video game in years though so I’m not sure if I can make a fair comparison. If you are looking forward to the Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMix then you will most likely enjoy this video game (again) along with Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and maybe even those Kingdom Hearts Re:coded bits. I don’t know if I will return to these Kingdom Hearts video games. I would have liked to see Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II in one collection. I don’t know if I’m a big enough fan of these video games to purchase more than one collection for them. I will keep Kingdom Hearts III on my radar though.

If you have a 3DS, I strongly recommend picking up Dream, Drop, Distance. The ending essentially sets the stage for Kingdom Hearts III in a way that I feel is necessary to experience, or else you may have a hard time understanding where KH3 is coming from. Then again, there's a chance that they may recap the story thus far at the beginning of KH3 like they did with Dream, Drop, Distance. It's your call.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a Nintendo 3DS and I don't know if I will get one. I’m actually trying to save up for a PlayStation 4. The Evil Within looks amazing on it. This is one video game that I would like to experience at its best. I will be kind of annoyed if the PlayStation 4 still costs $450 in Canada in a few months. I drifted away from Kingdom Hearts when all of these Nintendo installments started crawling out of the woodwork. I’m sure they add interesting bits and pieces to the Kingdom Hearts storyline but I’m not really prepared to invest that much time and money into a single franchise at this time. I don't know if it is my cup of tea anymore. I'm sure it's still fun though.

I don't know if it is my cup of tea anymore. I'm sure it's still fun though. If it means anything, most of the Nintendo games mean close to nothing to the story (except for DDD). Chain of Memories was interesting, but it's not necessary to understand the story. And since Sora loses his memory in the end, it puts the player in his shoes when playing Kingdom Hearts II without having played CoM. Birth By Sleep reveals that there was some significance to Chain of Memories, but it's enough just to play Birth By Sleep to understand why Castle Oblivion is important. Then there's 358/2 Days; again, it's interesting, but it contributes nothing to the plot and it isn't even that much fun to play. And even I didn't pick up Re:Coded; when reviews came back saying that it had even less to do with the plot than the games I've previously stated, along with an overwhelming consensus that even hardcore fans couldn't appreciate it, I stayed away.

Square Enix just announced a collector's edition to be made available for the release of Kingdom Hearts II.5 ReMIX.
I'm not sold on it. The limited edition should include the art book so that it's consistent on my shelf alongside Kingdom Hearts I.5 ReMIX. It is neat that the collector's edition also includes I.5, but I already have it, so I see no point in getting it unless I didn't have that. Poison, this might be for you if you were willing to shell out $100 for the collector's edition.

I'm not holding my breath just yet, but Bill Farmer (Goofy's voice actor) released a statement today saying that he's confident that Kingdom Hearts III will release near the end of the year. It sounds almost too good to be true seeing as my initial thought was that it would release no earlier than 2017. But if it's true, then I couldn't be more excited!
