I haven't played Harvest Moon, but I don't think it's a smart idea to change the name. It might not get the attention of all of Harvest Moon's fans. That's a really strange case. Harvest Moon is a name chosen by the localization staff, for the NA releases of the series(and isn't the Japanese name of the series). It makes sense that Marvelous AQL would be interested in giving the localization rights over to XSeed, whose parent company they bought out, because that would save them money. What's weird, is that Natsume owns the rights to the name "Harvest Moon", so Marvelous cannot use that name, unless they continue to partner with Natsume. Of course, the name is all Natsume owns, so I really don't know what purpose that serves, or what they can do with it. In theory, they could release games under the name of Harvest Moon, but they don't have the rights to the IP itself, so they'd have to release something different, which would just confuse fans of the series further, and Natsume would likely just end up getting on their bad side.

Story vs. Gameplay is a topic I am particularly passionate about. To me, it's this: gameplay makes a game fun to play, but story is what makes a game worth playing. It's why I simply can't get into Call of Duty or Ratchet and Clank; they might play fine, but the lack of a story (or a story that's present, but just barely, in the cases of the aforementioned examples) just doesn't hold me over. I'd like to think that games are more acceptable to lack in the gameplay department and still be good as long as the story is well thought-out and engaging. The Walking Dead is a perfect example of this. But again, the story needs to be REALLY…REALLY good for me to enjoy it if the gameplay itself isn't as fun.

That's why I made the distinction between games with limited action, and games with broken game mechanics. I have, and will continue to enjoy games that fall into the former category, but they're not for everyone. On the other hand, a poorly designed game, is objectively bad. The Walking Dead, and other, more recent, Telltale series, are about as close as it gets to a Western developed visual novel, that isn't an indie tribute to Japanese games. They actually do contain more action than most visual novels, but they also fall a little short on the ludo-narrative side, IMHO, so it's a tradeoff. However, I still like TWD a lot. I'm way behind, since I'm waiting for the complete collection of Season 2, but I'll continue to wait patiently, and avoid spoilers.

Yeah, and it's coming to both the ps4 and vita, as well as the wii u(no xb1 version in the works). It will also be available on windows, mac and linux. For a bit of an update, it looks like the Kickstarter has surpassed the $40,000 mark, so the extra chapter is happening.

I'll be rooting for Sony as always, but I'm always happy on the rare occasion that Nintendo wins. E3 for me tends to consist of hoping for Kingdom Hearts III and becoming sorely disappointed. But of course the game was announced last year (and it was the first time I didn't have my hopes up), so I feel like I'll be taking E3 in a whole new light for the first time. I used to hope for a new Jak and Daxter game to be announced until The Lost Frontier; I just don't think the series is capable of being good anymore, so I'd rather it be left alone while the series only has 1 crappy game out of 6. And after the controversial reboot Naughty Dog planned before working on The Last of Us, I feel like the company is too out-of-touch with Jak to really understand what made the older games great. As I've stated previously, I'm willing to bet that Sly 5 is coming in the near future, based solely on the fact that Kevin Miller suddenly stopped updating his Facebook page after previously being an active admin. Of course, I'd like Namco to say that the exclusivity agreement with Microsoft has expired and that Tales of Vesperia will be hitting the PS3 or PS4, but I'm not counting on it. A release date for Final Fantasy XV would also be nice, as it would entail that Kingdom Hearts III is just around the corner.
I'd also like to see either a Final Fantasy VII remake announced (because let's face it, the game is dated) or a true sequel to Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. I feel like I've been waiting on that even longer than Final Fantasy XV.
Of course, I'd love to see new stuff come into light, maybe a new game that might intrigue me in some way. I'd also like to see Zelda Wii U announced, which is likely to occur. I'm sure it'll include current gameplay footage, but I'm always disappointed when a game is announced with just the logo or something like that. But seeing as they showed quite a bit in the Skyward Sword teaser, I doubt Nintendo would be that bad. I don't know about Majora's Mask 3D; it wasn't my favorite game in the series. In fact it's my second least-favorite behind Link's Awakening. I would have to really think about owning it if it's announced simply because it had such a depressing overtone, and I don't like to play under time pressure in that kind of way. With recent rumors suggesting that Link is dead in the game, with evidence to back that claim with the fact that each area of the game is based on the 5 stages of grief, I don't know if I could give the game another go.

Game Theory, huh? You know that guy's show depends on theories being thrown around, whether there's any basis to them, or not. I will give the guy props for making the majority of what he says, sound plausible, and finding ways to back it up, but I also take his stuff with a grain of salt. Good episode though. I'm actually a little miffed at Ninty right now. They're supposedly bringing DS games to the VC, but once again, just like with GBA games, they're only coming to the Wii U, and not the 3DS, which is a system built for a handheld VC. Once again, I doubt these games will sell systems, and will simply be a nice perk for existing Wii U owners, while everyone else wants the Wii U to fail, so that the 3DS will get proper support.

I agree that leaks don't ruin E3 for me. I remember there were a ton of leaks that got out one year that Sony would have liked to have kept under wraps, but they still had quite a bit to show off that still made the press conference fun to watch. I am so bummed that I have to work during the press conference! I'll have to find out where I can watch the recording the next morning.

I miss when E3 was broadcasted on G4. The channel no longer exists (and for good reason), but it was helluva more convenient to skip the stuff I didn't care about. G4 used to be great, though; before it was the cruddy-reality-show channel, it was THE video game channel. I watched "X-Play", not for their reviews, but for general gaming news (anyone who gives Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII a 2 out of 5 does not deserve to be taken seriously with game reviews). But I think I enjoyed watching "Cinematech" even more so. A half-hour of game trailers and cutscenes? Awesome!

I've posted my thoughts on both Sony and Microsoft's E3 conferences. My opinion shouldn't surprise you. I really was expecting MS to have a better conference this year though. Oh well. They are known for blowing smoke. Ok, not all of it was smoke, but we already knew about most of the good stuff, and most of the remainder was multiplat. No Man's Sky stole the show for me. You can read my articles for the full scoop.

You can read my articles for the full scoop. All right, I'll be sure to check that out in the morning; for now, here are the notes I took during the Sony press conference before I head to bed: - The audience is…a little too excited about the white PS4. I suspect there are a handful of white supremacists in the crowd. - So Ready at Dawn is still around and they've yet to produce a sequel to the 5th best-selling game on the PSP? Tsk-tsk. The Order: 1886 looks neat, though. - Was I the only one that immediately thought of That Game Company upon seeing Entwined? - inFAMOUS: First Light - I haven't played these games, but I'm starting to think this series is becoming the X-Men of video games. - LittleBigPlanet 3 characters are adorable! - Was that a zombified Barbara Bush near the end of the Dead Island 2 teaser? Talk about terrifying. - "HULK SMASH!" - So a game titled Let it Die is coming. Cue the new influx of "Let it Go" parodies. - This ABZU trailer tells me nothing, but I think it's safe to say that there will be some hardcore relaxation involved. - The whole letters from fans thing…uhhh. - No Man's Sky might be up my alley. Might be. I'm quite impressed by the seamless transition from planet to planet without load times. - I call BS on Shawn Layden's claim to PlayStation's feedback. Most people don't want "powerful ways to share their experiences". They want sequels to games they never get. Or things like the Final Fantasy VII remake. Just saying. - I approve of the YouTube integration idea. - My playback skipped for some reason…what exactly is PlayStation TV? - ACK!! Why must Mortal Kombat X be so gross?! - The Last of Us doesn't look ANY better on PS4… - I think it's time that I started playing these Batman games. Only problem is the PS3 games take up too much space. - Haha, YES! Nathan Drake's wardrobe resembles my initial multiplayer avatar's appearance. Blue shirt ftw. Overall, it was a pretty good press conference, but I felt like it could have been a lot better. The audience wasn't that excited either. Most of the whoops and hollers sounded forced. The only time the audience sounded genuinely thrilled was at the sight of the LittleBigPlanet 3 logo and the announcement regarding the white PS4 ( ). The 2015 release date for Uncharted 4: Thief's End pretty much sealed the likelihood of my buying a PS4 by the time it releases. Although I'm not so thrilled by the fact that the terrain will be all jungle-themed again. Or at least I hope it only takes up a small portion like the last 2 games have, and I'm sure they will be. Heh. "One last time." Sure, Sulley. Sure.

Heh. "One last time." Sure, Sulley. Sure. I must have missed the fan letters thing. Truth be told, I didn't catch the entire conference, but I did my best to. I thought I filled in all the gaps, mind you. The Last of Us still looks good, but I wasn't expecting much out of a remaster/upscaled port, and think it was hyped up way too much, especially since it looks fine on the ps3. Playstation TV(previously known as the Vita TV) is a gimmick that was announced some time ago. It would stream content from your Playstation devices, allowing you to play your games elsewhere in your house. People have used the vita for that, but this one can supposedly be attached to any tv, and allow you to play your games on it, even if it's not the tv your ps4 is hooked up to. It also supposedly plays "most" vita games. It sounds neat on paper, but I don't think it's for me. Neither is a white ps4. Nice white supremacy joke. I'm getting a modern day Athena vibe, but with a male lead, and a modern setting, with guns, among other things. If you don't know what Athena is, it's a classic 1980s Japanese game, developed by SNK, where a girl in her underwear fights off enemies, in an attempt to get to the end of the stage, and picks up weapons, armor, and other power ups for protection. It's actually really challenging, and a little ridiculous. You can watch footage of it here: m.youtube.com/watch?v=rf4C0_veHak Forget Let it Die. I want a remake of that. Entwined does give give off a That Game a Company vibe, but did you know the art director behind Abzu did the art for Journey? I'm quite impressed by the indie games showcased this year for Sony systems. It's official. I now know what I'm blogging about tomorrow!

I actually didn't hear anything about Mass Effect until you mentioned it in your blog. I understand why no one's talking about it, though; they basically said, "We're working on it," which we already knew. Through a related video, I found a new trailer for Star Wars: Battlefront that was equally disappointing for the same reasons. But yeah, I don't need to watch the other press conferences to know that Sony stole the show. Granted they've done better, but I was really expecting to hear new Sly Cooper news this year as well as a release date for Final Fantasy XV (say it with me…maybe at TGS?). And of course, another year where the Final Fantasy VII remake wasn't announced (not that I was entirely expecting it; they are busy with Final Fantasy XV after all). With that said, I look forward to what Nintendo has to offer today.

Wow, Nintendo's presentation was really short. I realized that Nintendo is pulling another GameCube with Zelda Wii U in that we were shown this realistic tech demo 2 years ago, and now we have another Wind Waker. Obviously it's not necessarily a bad thing, but it is a bit of a let-down. I also thought it was odd that they thought Zelda didn't have as much exploration until now; I mean their solution looks awesome, but I immediately thought of Skyrim when they showed off the redesigned Hyrule. I dunno, it's cool that they're trying something new, but I really like the current convention of Zelda. Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword were perfect in my opinion. I was surprised that their was no Majora's Mask announcement! I almost thought that was a given. Splatoon looks awesome; I could see myself having a lot of fun with that.
